The CUP's Beauty Drive
Helped to make someone’s Valentine’s Day more beautiful.

Beauty Drive Success Story: February 14th, 2008

We would like to thank everyone who donated bath and beauty products for the Beauty Drive. Your contributions were so generous. We received almost 5,000 items and were able to put together 525 gift bags. Now that’s a Happy Valentine’s Day! The cause and response was so amazing we had a spot on KCAL Channel 9 News featuring The CUP and the community’s response in helping the less fortunate.

Many of our staff sorted and stuffed bags on Wednesday. Steve and Jennifer drove to the following 7 places dropping off gift bags to organizations that provided for women that have been victims of abuse, rehab centers, and places dedicated to helping families take a step forward. Their final stop was a homeless shelter in Santa Ana where gift bags were given to many who thought they had been forgotten . . . Surprise!

Your contributions were distributed to the following organizations:

* Laura’s House – Creating a safe space in which to empower individuals and families affected by abuse.
* Ashland Home - Providing a safe and caring environment for women and build a foundation for recovery.
* Families Forward - Giving families renewed self-confidence and the tools they need to succeed in life, through housing, counseling, food, referrals, school supplies, career coaching, and other services.
* New Direction for Women - a drug and alcohol treatment provider offering services for women, pregnant women, and women with children.
* Colette’s Children’s Home - Providing single women and mothers with children a safe home and nurturing environment where they can obtain the support and services they need to achieve self-sufficiency.
* Cold Weather Shelter – Homeless shelter providing safe shelter for women.
* Project Access - Assisting low-income families and seniors in affordable housing to achieve self-sufficiency through access to onsite services in education, health and social services.
