What is Yoga?
Yoga includes meditation and exercises to help you improve flexibility
and breathing, decrease stress, and maintain health. Whether you’re
just returning to physical exercise after some time off or you’re
an elite athlete wanting
to fine tune their strength, stamina and focus, yoga has something
to offer.
Type of Yoga Instruction
The type of yoga instruction to be taught is a combination of Iyengar (detailed anatomical instruction) and Ashtanga flow (think sun salutations
and Vinyasa Flow between poses). Each class will be composed of a
warm up, series of poses, cool down and a brief meditative relaxation
(or Savasana). Class level will be a Level 1-2 and is suitable for
beginners and moderate practitioners.
What
to Wear & Bring
Wear comfortable clothing you can bend, twist, and possibly invert
(or go upside down) in. Also, bring a towel or your own mat, and
arrive clean and free of scents that might distract or offend others.
Mats can be purchased from sporting goods stores (Chick’s,
Nike, Adidas, etc.), general stores (like Target), from yoga studios
like Yoga Works (see www.yogaworks.com for physical locations), or
from an online retailer.
Cost
You can pay in full for the 8 classes, $80 per person ($10 per class),
or drop in and pay the single class rate, $12 per person.
